Ontario Ancestors’ annual conference will be virtual again in 2022. Ottawa Branch will be hosting and we are seeking volunteers to help make 2022’s annual Ontario Genealogical Society conference a success.
Ottawa Branch is working on a great line up of speakers BUT we need volunteers to help us with the virtual presentations. Each session is timed to be an hour in length, but the volunteers will need to be active for about 70 minutes per session. These will all be Zoom sessions, with the audience muted and no cameras enabled. Ottawa Branch needs people to help with two tasks for each virtual session.
Firstly, we need a person to act as moderator for each session. You will welcome and introduce the speaker (script provided), will handle the online Q&A after the presentation, will thank the speaker, and wrap up the session. If you speak well in a Zoom type meeting, this is the perfect role for you.
The other volunteer will help with the technical aspects of the presentation. You will ensure the presenter has the correct tools and is ready to present. You will help users with connection problems and enable viewers to enter the room, AKA see and hear the presentation. If you have some technical experience with Zoom meetings or are generally comfortable with computer, mice and clicking, this is for you. Even Mac users can help with this important technical role. Training will be provided.
We are asking for volunteers to help with 29 sessions: one Friday night, 14 on Saturday in 2 streams of seven; and 14 sessions Sunday, again in two streams.
If you are interested in volunteering for either of these roles please complete this form. If you have questions, please email us
