Colleen Murray, Professional Genealogist

I became a professional genealogist in 2015 after completing a Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies (PLCGS) from the National Institute for Genealogical Studies, and completing the ProGen Study program. I launched my blog at that time, where I mostly post about my own roots- Canadian, French-Canadian and Irish stories. I accept clients in the same research areas, and I also like to incorporate DNA research when relevant. In addition to regular client work, in the past year, I’ve worked on a lot of interesting projects, including updating a course for the National Institute, teaching for the Alberta Genealogical Society, and consulting for the Alberta Office of the Public Trustee on heir identification cases. I was also recently featured in the APG Quarterly (Association of Professional Genealogists magazine). I select new projects based on what interests me, and how closely I think they match my skill set.
