Flamborough Archives & Heritage Society

The Waterdown-East Flamborough Heritage Society was formed in 1973 when the three Townships of East Flamborough, West Flamborough and Beverly were amalgamated as the Township of Flamborough. The Society created an Archives in 1983 which has been extensively used by researchers, and continues to grow as we receive donations. Now part of the City of Hamilton, Flamborough still retains a separate identity if only in the hearts of its residents. The Archives is open to the public 5 days a week. The collection includes very few municipal records but has an extensive collection of local histories, family histories, places of worship, former LACAC material, obituaries, some original birth/death/marriage certificates and general genealogical reference material. Land abstract books for East & West Flamborough, and both original and reprints of some Historical Atlases are also in the collection. We have over 500 files for Flamborough W.W.I Veterans , and hundreds of general interest files.

We have several items in our shop https://flamboroughhistory.com/shop/ including the recently published “The Extraordinary History of Flamborough – Platinum Jubilee edition’ by Nathan Tidridge. We are also very excited to offer a digital download of the 1851 personal census for East Flamborough. No copies of the original census have been found. This publication lists about 500 names and has been recreated using other parts of the 1851 census, assessment rolls, land abstract books and other sources. Although obviously not a complete or ‘official’ census, it will aid researchers looking to find their ancestors in the area. This is a PDF file, 133 pages, $20.
