Tay Valley Family History Society

Tay Valley Family History Society was founded in 1980, as the third Scottish regional FHS, and now has strong worldwide membership. Our Centre, at 179-181 Princes Street, Dundee, is a leading centre of FH Research within the Tay Valley area.
The Society’s aims are to promote the study of family history, genealogy and local history throughout the Tay Valley: the former counties of Dundee, Angus, Fife, Kinross and Perthshire. Research interests move from stories of highland settlement and migration to the growth of linen and jute trades with many associated industries in burghs and cities. Tales of hardship, romance or success – all are part of what our members discover. Our research team assist (for a small fee) out-of-area members.
Our current Honorary President, Iain Flett, previously Chief Archivist at Dundee City Archives, and other members, contribute to our journal and to our series of Video Talks.
TVFHS is part of the Scottish Association of Family History Societies (SAFHS).
