See YOU at the Conference

The Joy of VIRTUAL!

Ottawa Branch OGS is hosting the 2022 OGS/Ontario Ancestors Conference on June 24-26, 2022, with an exciting line-up of 29 different presentations and an Expo Hall for learning about resources to help you with your genealogy from many different heritage / cultural / genealogy groups, and museums and archives.  For up-to-the minute information, visit the OGS Conference 2022 website at  https://conference2022.ogs.on.ca/

Of course, VIRTUAL conferences have many advantages.

The 1st advantage is cost and impact on your budget

No travel, accommodation, or meal costs to add to the conference registration fee. For Conference 2022, the registration fee is only $79 CDN. Thanks to the generous cooperation of our speakers, ALL presentations will be recorded for your viewing by registrants for a month after Conference 2022.  You do not have to decide between Session A, B or C; you can view them ALL! Ontario Ancestors Conference 2022 offers incredible value compared to some other virtual conferences!

Registration is now open at https://conference2022.ogs.on.ca/

The 2nd advantage of a VIRTUAL conference is comfort!

You can attend in your jammies and fuzzy slippers! You can get into your most comfortable chair and listen to all the presentations, more than once if you want. You do not have to worry about finding your way around a conference centre, a school, or a hotel. You do not have to walk miles between sessions. You do not have to worry about parking or getting a seat. You always have a front-row seat with the volume at your preferred level. And you can eat what you want, when you want, from your own kitchen!

The 3rd improvement of VIRTUAL over In-Person is the Expo Hall.

No worries about missing a session in order to visit the Expo Hall. It is there throughout the Conference whenever you want it (and available on the Conference website for non-registrants too!) at  https://conference2022.ogs.on.ca/.   You can learn about what each of the exhibitors offers to assist you with your research, be it documents only available in-person at their location, exhibits at their museum or archives, benefits of membership in their organization. As well as books, maps, software, and CDs that can educate you or offer you transcribed resources not available anywhere else.  And you don’t have to worry about crowds or missing a session!

The FINAL bonus of the OGS Conference 2022 being VIRTUAL is the interactive session offered on Friday, June 24 to attendees. You can help shape the soon-to-be-built new Library & Archives Canada (LAC) and Ottawa Public Library (OPL) joint facility.

How would you like LAC and OPL to offer services to genealogists? Do you have any ideas on how it should operate? Be sure to attend the live interactive session as an attendee at OGS Conference 2022! Your contributions are important!

See you there but, unlike you, I might be on camera, so I won’t be wearing my jammies! Don’t forget to visit https://conference2022.ogs.on.ca/
